Homemade Bread Stuffing

Ingredients

  • 8 cups/2L Bread Crumbs
  • 2 tsp/10ml sage
  • 1 tsp/5ml poultry seasoning
  • 1 tsp/5ml dried parsley
  • 1 tsp/5ml salt
  • 1/2 tsp/2ml pepper
  • 1/2 cup/125ml melted butter
  • 1/2 cup/125ml chopped onion
  • 1/2 cup/125ml chopped celery

Instructions

  1. Combine bread crumbs and seasonings in a large bowl. In a small skillet, melt butter.  Add onion and celery. Saute until onion is transparent.
  2. Pour over seasoned bread crumbs and toss well.
  3. To create new flavors add any combination of the following: giblets, raisins, chopped apple, chopped nuts or sliced mushrooms. You may moisten the bread crumbs with a little warm water or turkey (chicken) stock if preferred.
